Padraig Farrell, 17, had ambitions to gain decent qualifications, giving him the chance to apply for the best job opportunities in his chosen field. He wanted to really stand out and gain valuable skills. Through the use of the local council apprenticeship website, he found an opportunity to become an apprentice quantity surveyor, which allowed him to gain first hand job experience and a qualification in construction contracting operations.
First Hand Learning from an Expert
Now, Padraig works for Gleeson Developments Limited. His several responsibilities are to assist the senior quantity surveyor, raise orders for subcontractors, obtain specific measurements and conduct quality assurance.
A Bright Future
Once Padraig has completed his apprenticeship he aims to become a full qualified senior quantity surveyor himself, and he would like to explore the construction industry as much as possible to see what other opportunities can arise.
