Liverpool Hairdressing Salon Celebrates Regional Apprenticeship Employer Award
Hairlucinations, a long-standing successful Liverpool hair salon, is celebrating being crowned Small Employer of the Year at the North West regional final of the National Apprenticeships Awards held at the city’s prestigious Titanic Hotel.
The title cements recognition for Hairlucinations as an employer that is leading the way in the region in its commitment to Apprenticeships and in facilitating long term careers for the apprentices they employ. The award also means that the community-focussed business goes forward to represent Liverpool City Region in the national finals.
Commitment and Inspiration
MD, Barry Cochrane, underlines the importance of Apprenticeships in the organisation:
“As a local salon with a team of talented and enthusiastic stylists, we are and always have been, totally committed to taking on apprentices. I have team members who have been with me for over 25 years, who themselves joined as apprentices. They provide inspiration for new apprentices joining the salon who through them see the possibility of long term successful hairdressing careers.
“Winning this award is a milestone for Hairlucinations after 48 years in the industry, shaping world class hairdressing talent in the region. We have always prided ourselves in offering careers, not just jobs, and this proves even small businesses can deliver award winning training.”
Celebrating in their success is Hairlucinations’ partner in training, Michael John Academy, who provides expert training and support to the salon’s apprentices. A leading provider of Apprenticeships training in the region, this is the second year running that a hairdressing salon supported by Michael John Academy has won a regional Apprenticeship award. This is testament to Michael John Academy’s tried and tested tailored approach in supporting local employers, backed up by their recent 98.2% score in the national Apprenticeships employer survey.
Chief executive, Shaun McNamara is proud that Michael John Academy has played a part in Hairlucination’s success:
“It’s a privilege to work in partnership with Hairlucinations who demonstrate unswerving commitment and support to their apprentices and the Apprenticeships programme as a whole. The salon is a leading model for how to build commercial success whilst giving something back to the local community by providing long term career opportunities in a supportive, encouraging working environment”
Melanie Dodd, LCR Apprenticeship Hub Strategy Manager, highlights the inspirational example that Hairlucinations sets for other employers in the region:
“It’s businesses like Hairlucinations that embody the true ethos of Apprenticeships – building long term success by growing their own talent. We’re very proud that they are going forward to represent our region in the national awards and wish them every success.”
