The Skills Show Experience @ International Festival for Business 2014 will support schools, colleges and local communities by offering local careers information and advice on local growth job areas.

The National Careers Service is a key partner in the event – helping individuals find out about different careers, developing their skills and how to access training.

Free, personalised, professional careers advice
The National Careers Service provides independent, professional and high quality careers and skills advice.  It’s a service for people looking for careers advice, information on training or guidance on work options. The service can help as much or as little as users wish, so people can get the help they need quickly and efficiently.

The National Careers Service:

  • • Offers free, impartial, independent and high quality careers and skills advice
  • • Is open 7 days a week between 8am and 10pm
  • • Helps people aged 13+ to find out about different careers, developing their skills or accessing training
  • • Helps individuals fulfil their career potential, supporting them to make informed decisions about their career, skills and training
  • • Provides opportunity to open a Lifelong Learning Account, which supports career development throughout their working life

Face-to-face careers advice available for those aged 19+

This includes an interactive careers toolkit to help you to develop a CV, search for work and prepare for an interview. There are also audio top tips, learners’ stories, job profiles, feature articles and even graphic novels.
