The Skills Show Experience @ The International Festival for Business 2014, supported by the European Social Fund and the National Careers Service, is a free interactive careers event for 14-25 year olds, taking place at Aintree Racecourse over 2 days on 17th and 18th June 2014.

60 schools and up to 6000 young people are expected to attend the event hosted by The Employment and Skills Board of the Local Enterprise Partnership and its partners including the National Apprenticeship Service.

At the event young people can:

  • • Find out about careers available in the growth sectors in the local economy
  • • Try their hand at skills, trades and occupations
  • • Access careers advice and guidance
  • • Ask employers, colleges and training organisations about the skills and qualifications needed for different job roles
  • • Learn about different routes into careers including Apprenticeships and university degrees
  • • Watch presentations by local businesses and people working in different jobs

 

National programme of events

The Liverpool City Region Skills Show@ The International Festival for Business 2014 is part of a national programme of over 220 regional Skills Show Experience events running between January and December 2014, extending the impact of The Skills Show to over 200,000 young people from across the country.

Location

Aintree Racecourse is located on the A59, just one mile from the M57 and M58, which link to the M62 and M6.

Follow the A59 to Liverpool, then signs for Aintree Racecourse

By road

From South

Leave M62 at J6 and join M57 and follow signs for A59 Liverpool, then signs for Aintree Racecourse.

From North

Leave M6 at J26 and join M58. At the end of M58, follow signs for A59 Liverpool, then signs for Aintree Racecourse.

By Rail

The nearest mainline station is Liverpool Lime Street. It is a five minute walk from there to Liverpool Central where you can catch trains to Aintree. Any train travelling to Ormskirk on the Northern Line will also stop at Aintree Station, opposite the main entrance to the racecourse.
